NEUTRAL GROUNDING RESISTORS

NGR & NIS Panel normally consists of two separate cubicles attached to each other. The resistance cubicle consists of a number of resistance banks (tiers) mounted one on top of another and supported on HT insulators. The enclosure is fitted with covers and provided with louvers and wire mesh. A space heater is provided to prevent condensation of moisture.
A single-pole isolator is provided in the neutral circuit, and the other end is connected to the NGR. The HT bushings, used to connect the NGR terminals, are mounted on the partition wall between the NGR & NIS cubicles.
An LT terminal box for housing the thermostat and MCB, ON/OFF indicating lamps, LT terminals of the isolator, CTs, etc. is provided in the NIS cubicle.

NGR & VC PANEL
SPECIFICATIONS
NGR & VC Panel normally consists of two separate cubicles attached to each other. The resistance cubicle consists of a number of resistance banks (tiers) mounted one on top of another and supported on HT insulators. The enclosure is fitted with covers and provided with louvers and wire mesh. A space heater is provided to prevent condensation of moisture.
This type of system is used for parallel-operating generators, in which all VCs are interlocked with each other and, at a time, only one VC is connected to the NGR. In such a system, one common NGR is used for multiple generators.
The NIS cubicle houses the isolating switch (vacuum contactor) and CTs, as desired.
An LT terminal box for housing the thermostat and MCB, ON/OFF indicating lamps, LT terminals of the isolator, CTs, etc. is provided in the NIS cubicle.

DESCRIPTION
NGR WITH MONITORING -(FAILSAFE RELAY)
SPECIFICATIONS
In outdoor distribution stations, there are several possibilities of damage to neutral grounding connections due to various environmental conditions, which may result in an open circuit or burning of the NGR. This can create a dangerous floating condition in the neutral grounding system. It may also result in the failure of earth-leakage protection operating through the neutral CT, as the leakage current may not be able to flow through an open neutral grounding connection.
To prevent this type of failure, fail-safe relays must be installed. The fail-safe relay continuously monitors the continuity of the NGR and neutral grounding connections and trips the feeder circuit breaker whenever an open circuit occurs in the neutral grounding connection or NGR. The fail-safe relay ensures reliable and fail-safe operation of the neutral grounding system.
This type of system is generally used in mines and the oil industry.
For mines, as per applicable DGMS guidelines, for MV systems (3.3kV, 6.6kV & 11kV), the fault current is restricted to 50A, and for LT systems (415V & 230V), the fault current is restricted to 0.750mA.
